The UPS Store

Short Story Contest

Offer ends October 6, 2019today Offer ended

Write a story inspired by The UPS Store 2020 Rose Parade float with a theme of community and hope. Children ages 5 to 17 are eligible to write and submit a short story (not to exceed 1,000 words) before the October 6 deadline. Official Rules are here.

The UPS Store float, “Stories Change Our World,” is centered on this year’s Tournament of Roses parade theme, “The Power of Hope,” as the float features an endangered species of tamarin monkeys in community with a pair of toucans, salamanders and parrots.

Up to five winners will be rewarded with a $1,000 scholarship and $10,000 worth of Scholastic books to their schools or non-profit organizations of their choice.

The winners’ stories will also be printed in a special anthology children’s book, of which 10,000 copies will be handed out at the Post Parade event at the 2020 Tournament of Roses.
